3/14/23: Koi No Yokan by Deftones

"Koi no Yokan is a Japanese phrase referring to the feeling, upon first meeting someone, that you will eventually fall in love." it specifically translates to "premonition of love", which was exactly how i felt upon listening to this album. sexy, sultry, yet also rash with elements of doom metal. i absolutely adore deftones' work for their amazing chord progressions. for any music theory lovers out there: they often add sevenths (and sometimes ninths) to power chords which to me, makes it sound ethereal and ORGASMIC. my top songs are most definitely Rosemary, Gauze, Swerve City, and Tempest. overall this is complete ear-sex, brain-crack, whatever you want to call it, and is definitely a priority for your corny makeout playlist

3/9/23: Solo in Rio 1959 by Luiz Bonfá

so fucking good. at times it's whimsical and silly - makes me want to dance around with someone i love. others move me like nothing else - like Chopin or Amor sem Adeus. Luzes De Rio was the song that put me onto this album and i have been obsessed on and off since last year. A Brazilian in New York reminds me a lot of An American In Paris by George Gershwin, maybe one is inspired off another. portuguese is a very beautiful language! as i listen to this album i'm reminded of my portuguese relatives. it was the christmas of 2019, spending time with them was so beautiful and i got to share my anglo-indian heritage with them and talk about my last name. missing them is what this album reminds me of.
